I've been skiing about a year like you and I go to Chill Factor in Manchester. Also like you it has become my most favourite thing to do. I'm hooked.

So anyway, freestyling. Did you get any tuition or did you just throw yourself on some rails/jumps and hope for the best?
Once I get back from my holiday in February (The missus won't let me go before then in case a break something) I'm going to be going to some GROM Camps at chill factor. It's basically a bunch of professional freestylers doing some mass coaching. £30 for 3 hours including all slope fees. Don't know if you have heard of it but I'll attach the link to their website. I'm pretty sure they run them up in Scotland too.

I will give you my 2c. Go for it yourself, start small and build up, just make sure you are using the appropriate equipment/wearing the right protection. Obviously lessons would speed up the process perhaps to the point where you could continue on without lessons but it can be done without.

I expect I'll be doing a bit of both to start with. Probably just going to the occasional GROM Camp for fine tuning and advice.
It's my aim for 2009 anyway. )

Don't you worry Ian, the holiday will be immense and I won't be doing anything crazy :-) Piste skiing is a lot of fun on its own with a little off-piste action too!

Up here in Scotland we don't get these things such as the chill factor - we do get freestyle nights in the Xscape in Braehead however and I've had a number of freestyle coaching sessions - The instructor I had is fantastic - Made me really confident with rails and I can do them with ease now, feels great to be able to do it! I'm sure the price was 2 and half hours of coached session for £35, which isn't too bad.
The chill factor stuff sounds cool mate, hope you have a lot of fun and be careful to not get hurt too badly, eh? :-)
Skiing: the art of catching cold and going broke while rapidly heading nowhere at great personal risk.

I just realised that made no sense - I didn't know the Chill Factor was an indoor ski slope! The Xscape is exactly the same, just a different name ;) Hopefully the rest of that quote will now make more sense than before :-)
