So I'm after some new ones, but I only like the REALLY thin kind,

How thin is really thin?

One day on my last trip I forgot to put my ski socks on. Yes,odd I know! Anyway, I only had my normal everyday socks with me. I wore those all day. Naturally they were a bit short, however apart from that they were actually quite comfortable. Is this how thin you mean? Or thinner?

My ski socks are not thick at all. Just wondering your definition of "thin"

Hi Icey are we friends again, just asking in case I post on this thread. 8)

Did you mean "affect" your skiing? In which case I beg to differ. Put cheap tube socks on and theres a chance they will gather and cause possible pain and make you sweat too much.
Whereas having better quality socks with padding in the right places will take away these issues.
I don't think better socks will make you a better skier.

I wonder how Iceman skied without his ski socks on though.......

Warmth has never been an issue inside a properly-fitted boot; but comfort is key. As Tony says, gathering causes hot spots, hot spots can cause blisters and raw patches, which often equal misery, I wear a clean pair of thin Thorlos every day although I bought an excellent brand in Tahoe a few seasons ago - Wigwam - which I take as spares.

Yep, I wear clean socks every day and they're thin socks with padding in the right places. Never had a problem since I did, whereas the old tube socks years ago used to give me grief, and as for when I was learning back in 99..........ouch. Bleeding shins, but that was mainly from having boots that didnt fit.

I had my usual "work" socks on - simple short black ones.

I was driving to the top of the super morzine lift and I always take my socks with me so at the end of the day I can have some fresh ones to drive back in or go to the pub - I suffer from sweaty feet, but that is another story.

That day, got to the top with no socks. Instead of going back, thought "stuff it" and wore the socks I had on. They were fine - apart from being a bit short.

So my question - how thin are REALLY THIN socks?
