Have you learned anything about yourself on a recent ski trip?

Not being able to go away this year and Scotland being so poor so far has told me that Im a grumpy git when i can't get on the snow-this is coming from my better half who has spent hours herself trying to get me a flight to Italy on the cheap!

Hmm, I thought about this for a while. I've noticed over the last couple of years that although my skiing is improving all the time after boarding for sooooo long, I'm regressing slightly, I'm not as stupid as I used to be in my 20s that's for sure, I don't take as many risks and I 'bimble' around the mountain quite happily. Perhaps I'm just getting old, but I enjoy my skiing hugely, at my own pace, I think I appreciate it so much more now than I did when I was younger.
I took the mountains for granted when I was working seasons, which I obviously now regret, I was usually too tired/hungover to go out every day, and was a fair weather skier/boarder.
So that's a good enough reason for me to go out there and do it all again :)

I know last year I learned that confidence is everything! Was fortunate to be holidaying in Banff and had a big, big wipeout on the Ladies Downhill Course at Lake Louise, twisted binding, smashed goggles (and yes thankfully wearing a lid!). So having been totally knocked decided a 1 hour private lesson was the way to go. So first run to be assessed down a nursery slope, fine. Moved onto a blue (equivalent of a Euro red) fine, then onto a tree lined black, only there was some snowboarding timings going on so only had a quarter of the slope to use and had about maybe 20 - 25 feet width between boarders and the trees, and again, came down it absolutely fine, and that was that, spent the rest of the hour just chatting with the instructor and getting some general improvement tips but having had the confidence built back up I was sorted for the rest of the week! So there you go, for me I've learned that it's all about the confidence and having belief in your own ability!
I decided to have a life change and be more spontaneous. Starting tomorrow.

Excellent response Nellster. I think we have all been guilty of taking for granted where we are when we ski, and thats exactly what prompted me to post, as I sat in this deckchair with a coffee looking out across the high peaks covered in snow, high above the clouds, and just came across a bit mushy.NellyPS wrote:Hmm, I thought about this for a while.
