Hi guys, I hope someone can help me...
I want to book a snowboarding holiday to Canada (for myself & my partner) in early 2013 for approx 10 days (depending on availability).
Due to cost I would prefer to book earlier, hopefully taking advantage of any early booking offers but mainly to spread the cost a bit more.
My questions are:
- where is best to go? (My partner is an advanced boarder whereas I am just about competant but only basically!) socially a relaxed atmosphere as we are not bothered about nightclubs etc.
- where is the best place to book? who has the best deals generally?
when does 2013 go on sale?
Any help/advice very much appreciated!

The big Tour Operators usually have their "preview" brochure out before the end of the current season - you'll certainly be able to find a brochure by end March
I've never skiied Canada so cant help directly but have looked at a few things there:
You need to decide if the "Village" type resort (that we're all used to in Europe) is important with ski in ski out a possibility from accomodation and slopes coming down into the town.
If this is your thing then Whistler and Tremblant look best bets - Bannf / Lake Lousie etc have more need of buses at start and end of the day

Agree with Andyoneil but would add that January in Canada is very very cold, if you buy a ski9 days out of 10 lift pass in Whistler/Blackcombe it will set you back at least £400 each!!.
If you look at major company's websites now it will give you a good idea of the type of last minute deals that are available at this time of year.
Late booking for Canada for this time of season
probably makes sense; I can't see the World economy improving much before then anyway
If you want a package look at something like Skiworld but if you want to book direct on self-catering basis look at Whistler/ Blackcombe Tourist office website as they do have some brilliant all-in packages from time to time.
My last comments are that you will enjoy skiing in Canada but don't expect a cheap holiday - it won't be.
Hope this helps

I know a little about these resorts.
May I suggest first that you visit the western part of Canada, British Columbia would be your pick!
Two weeks means you do not want to stay in one place,,one resort!
May I suggest Panorama for its varied terrain, off-piste tree skiing and possibility to heli-ski on Thursdays. Heli pad is at base and many skiers get too tired on Thursday thus free seats ( well at a low cost ) !
The second week could be at. Revelstoke , Big White or Kicking Horse ! Fernie is a great ski resort for powder skiing but not for a week !!!!
Yes January and February are cold months ( mind you this year they are warm months coming ) Best time is late February early March !
Try Sportvac Tours for prices. Call or email ( see site ) Julien and tell him Pavel recommended you for best prices! You will get them !

Banff would be my choice. shortish transfer. the town of banff offers lots of interesting restaurants and shops. choice of norquay, sunshine and lakelouise. i know you need to bus to resorts but they have the system pretty much sorted, we never had to wait around much. I enjoyed the bus journey so i could chill and look at the wildlife and scenery on route.
It can get cold but with an extra layer the slopes will be empty and blue skys above and the hot chocolate tastes even better then :)
where ever you go in canada you will enjoy all it has to offer.
Good luck :)

Moogy offers another great choice! Banff is a great ski town.
Sunshine is unique with its top level ski chalet! One week at Sunshine,,sorry not for me!
Norquay,,a one day ski resort!
Lake Louise,,yes a week type ski center. Lots of slopes and great lifts! No hotels around, no food for miles !
Major storms now in lower BC. Avalanche danger !
Tell me when you will be there since I go there every two weeks with groups!

Hi
Thanks for all the information so far. We were thinking of going late Feb/early March which seems to be a recommended time.
We are both boarders, my other half is an intermediate/borderline advanced whereas I need more practise!!!
