Hey everyone...
I'm a student so looking for somewhere cheap to go around the 12/12/2010 to the 19/12/2010.
It has to be snow sure as i don't want to spend money on grass slopes!
Has anyone got any good ideas? No need to worry about how to get there- as i have cheap train tickets and some air miles to use up :)
Thanks x
early skiing-where to go!?

Tony, I'm not seeing Zermatt and cheap belonging in the same sentence. Have you found a bargain?

For that early, you can leave your choice until about a week before, even a couple of days before.
Assuming normal temperatures, most of the Alps will be prepared with machine snow at the start of December. Real snow builds on this base.
So around the last week in November, look on J2ski snow reports to give an idea of conditions and forecast.
It would help if you have some preferences, in terms of easiest airports for you to get to, easy ongoing transport, preferred areas.

If you can find a deal, St. Anton/Lech/Zurs is pretty snowsure then. We have stayed in Lech for that week for the last three years and had fantastic skiing. Not exactly cheap but we book late to help the budget!

Val Thorens, is an option high and pretty snow sure or Tignes. We have done Les Meniures a couple of time before Christmas and its been OK and you get a good deal from most of the TO's as it will be their first week

I've skied Tignes/Val D'Isere several times mid Dec and always had plenty of snow.
I'll be back in Tignes that week this year.
