Looking at current snow predictions for many ski resorts, there is a general trend indicating some quite considerable snow starting am today 11/09/09, especially in the French resorts, but looking at web cams on upper slopes there is no indication of the white stuff are we looking at the bbc weather centre forcast's as we no these can be wrong LOL, or is it a case of what will be will be, does anyone know what the early forcast's for this winter have in store for us? are we set for another bumper winter

Val D'Isere has already has a sprinkling of snow which melted. Zinal in Valais will open for skiing weekends from 7th November. The predictions I have read indicate slightly warmer conditions and a normal to slightly higher snowfall level in Northern European resorts.

I think the BBC are probably still smarting from their BBQ Summer forecast gaffe

:DHi,

I guess this is the thought going through most of our heads at the minute......apart from where did i put that bar of Galaxy?????MMMmmmm :(

As I am not one of the global carbon warming climate footprint change zealots, I actually have a feeling that we will be in for a bumper year this season (mind you it seems to be the trend over the last couple of years),also with the jetstream being slightly more equatorial this year, this will mean that colder air should push further south than usual .

If my itch starts tingling this will be a good omen :D,will be in BsM at the end of the month or early November for a long weekend so will tap up the loacls for their weather predictions :D

I read somewhere that this is an el nino year :(
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity

This is the info I heard aswell, hopefully the colder air will push further south and collide with the warm air off the Atlantic and this will happen right over Les Arcs and BsM if the gods are smiling....also across the whole of the alps aswell obviously :D :D don't want to hoard it all for myself :D

that would be just plain wrong...

Well if you believe the BBC (which I don't) then they are predicting a mild winter (in the UK), however judging by the amount of berries on the trees I would say otherwise (I love my mother-in-laws weather-watches, she's nearly always right).

With regards to the Alps, a few people mentioned the other day that this time last year there were bumper snow-falls in various resorts.

According to the Ski Club, the most snow has fallen in Scotland so far this year which the BBC seem to have failed to mention.

So there you go :?:
