Gettin a bit worried myself jclegg19 as heading there 23rd Feb. They do have really good snow now but set to be sunny for next 10 days. Check out www.accuweather.com and plug in morzine into world weather section. According to them Morzine due to get Snow/Rain in week of Feb 23rd on. Prob is it makes a pretty big difference which one it is. Dont think you can really forecast mountain weather that far out anyway. Surely the snow should hold up the road in Avoriaz anyway though? Do they have snow cannons running at night in Morzine, should be cold enough to make some fake stuff then?

All I'd say in reassurance is that the snow base is much better this year compared to last. I came back at the weekend from 13 days the Quatre Valées and 'though it was +2 to +6 daytime at 1500M, it was, and still is sub-zero at night. There was no sign of wearing through to the base when I left. However, I suspect that it will need more snow within the next 10 days if it's not to start degrading noticeably. The Avoriaz website says it's sub-zero daytime at 1800 and 170-210 cm of snow bottom-top so that looks good to me.

Here in Bansko, Bulgaria the snow cover is stable, that is because of the low temperatures last days, and that is good for the snow cannons to bank up a lot of snow as well.
You could see 10 m high heaps of snow stored near to the pistes.

Bit worried myself - heading to Tignes on Saturday. There is clearly a good deep base but I get the impression that it is now very hard packed and probably lots of ice. Not very pleasant for myself but horrible for the kids!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow ... as the song goes!

Hard packed does not necessarily mean lots of ice. Maybe first thing before the sun is out you might find some runs a bit scratchy, but I dont think with the good bases most resorts already have, you will have too much bother. Compared to last season, its a hell of a lot better.

Just been scanning the 7 day forecsats for Europe and there is next to nothing forecast...which is mildly depressing. I know we lose accuracy the further out we go, but is there any promising long range forecast out there, or seasonal indicators which foretell glorious snowfall which I can cheer myself up with?
