I know they are both Portes du Soleil and access is good to the linked in areas but I wondered if anyone preferred one to the other for whatever reason?
Looking for a chalet for next year and have found a cheap one in Chatel. I gather its a bit lower key than Morzine which is fine for my gang who make their own entertainment. I loved the skiing around there.
Just thought I'd run it by the forum before booking ..,.

Chatel is great, less english than Morzine which is always good. We live and work here in Chatel so can offer some good advice on the resort :D The skiing is much more accessible than Morzine and is about 300 meters higher as well.

Great! What I needed to hear!
Is there a free bus shuttle round to Morzine and how long does it take?
Cheers

Unfortuantley there's no free bus from Morzine to Chatel, the local Mountain 'Mont de Grange' is in the way so it takes about 45 mins to drive from Chatel to Morzine or visa versa, we had some guests last year who missed the last lift back from Morzine and it cost 140 euros in a cab, so word to the wise... don't get caught out. It's easy to ski to Morzine and Les Gets from Chatel with enough time to easily stay for the day and ski around the area, particularly Chamossier and Nyon... great views from here... You can reach the Swiss side of the PDS very easily from Chatel too, including Champoussin and Les Crosets etc
