Hi All,
Am having an MRI tomorrow on my knee which I damaged about 2 years ago ( spent the last two days of my trip with cold bottles of beer strapped to my knee with a T-Towel ) the Consultant I saw on Tuesday reckons I may have damage to my Lateral tendon , ACL and may also have some cartilige damge.....but again until I've had the MRI nothings 100%.
I can walk okayish , but when bending down and twisting the knee has become very sore , and sometimes pops and becomes painful and can't walk properly for a couple of hours....
Anyone had soemthing similar and ideas of recuperation time after if surgery is required ?
Again will know once it's done and I've had the results on Monday night......thank the Lord for works BUPA.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you, and well done for having BUPA to pay for it all :D

Hi,
Cheers guy's....best firm I've worked for ( German company called Krohne ) we pay the tax on the premium about £15 a month and the company pays the other £800 per year per person.
Will see how it pans out once I've had the follow up Monday night...fingers crossed :-)

Fingers crossed Jon,
One thing I will say is take the physio and exercises really, really, really, seriously!
This is key to good recovery.

Bummer news but you're going to need that knee for a long time yet mate so take any advice given and don't rush it
Had a mate who had similar and he was back playing 5-a-side 5 months later. He asked about skiing and was told that it was no worse than anything else but that it was daft things like being caught at a funny angle by a chair lift etc that could do the damage.
Write off this year and come back strong next (maybe via an appearance on Dancing on Ice as I understand that's what all the cool ski kids are doing post injury this year)!

Good Luck, think positive, and make sure your Physio understands skiing.

Hey, Jon. I had what appears to be an almost identical injury to yours (I was playing football at uni and managed to dislocate my knee and shoulder in the same tackle), leaving me with lateral, ACL and cartilage damage.
I had to have an arthroscopy and lateral release, which put me out of action for about four months. Even now, my knee swells up, cracks, groans and complains, even during mundane everyday stuff. It cracks and gives way and if there's a day when I don't have swelling, I'm happy!
The best news I can give you is since my injury, I've been skiing eight years on the trot. I don't wear a brace and suffer from intermittent locking (I think there's still some loose cartilage floating about in there somewhere), but other than a bit of pain and discomfort, I cover as many miles as everyone else.
Granted, I put up with the niggles and gripes because I want to ski (I've even given up other sports in case my knee collapses and I can't go back got the slopes!), but it's nothing unmanageable. And Jäger is a bloody good pain reliever!
Good luck with the scan.
