Hi everyone,

We are a group of 4 girl friends going to ski in France, in Chamonix, it's our first time together, and for some of us it's the first time that we are going skiing so we are really excited! :)

we were wondering if they were some ski schools for beginners, because we'll need it.

and what is better? a chalet or a hotel? a friend of mine find this: http://www.chamonix.net/english/accommodation/index.htm and http://hotel.twenga.co.uk/france/chamonix-mont-blanc.html
but we never tried a chalet, is it nice?

thanks for your tips!
see you!

Hi Carmelita. There are a couple of good ski schools in Chamonix that are UK run, http://www.britishskischool.com/chamonix/ or http://www.gravityskischool.co.uk/ I know friends you have used both & said they were good. We go to Chamonix every year, what kind of standard of accommodation are you looking for? If it is med/good range these guys are excellent & fairly reasonable on the cost front. www.snostation.com . When are you planning to go there?

Apartments or hotels give you a bit more freedom as to when you want to get up, eat breakfast, dinner etc. They also generally have a pool or steamroom/sauna to relax after a day on the slope.

Chalet board means that breakfast is only served for a short time, and dinner is at a set time. This is fine, unless of course you have had a heavy night, and dont really feel like getting up just yet!! Or fancy a few beers straight off the slopes, and maybe just want a late dinner. They also won't have a pool, although some will have a hot tub. You also have to sit down for dinner with randoms (unless you are taking up the whole chalet). This can be good or bad, its a total lottery who you will end up sharing with.

As for Chamonix, it is awesome. You will have a great time.
