Hi, We are considering going to Flaine late January. Just wondered if anyone has stayed at the Club Hotel Le Flaine (not the Le Totem though info on either greatly appreciated). Also, our party will consist of 4 adults and while I realise it's a great family resort, is anyone aware of any decent bars for adults? We're not looking for a party resort but would like a few decent bars to go in the evening. Any advice please? Cheers!

There's not much nightlife in Flaine, but le White Pub in the forum has a couple of reasonably priced happy hours and the Flying Dutchman attachs a big dutch crowd!
Don't know about the accomodation though!

Flaine is divided into two levels. The lower Flaine Forum and upper Flaine Foret. They are accessed by two funicular lifts known as the red and black devils. These are free of charge. The White Grouse pub is situated on the lower level at the end of a row ot shops leading to the DMC cablecar. It is quite noisy and unsophisticated. In Flaine Forum the Perdrix Noire is a bar and good restuarant with an open fire. Good food and atmosphere. You can also take free bus to the L'Alcolie in the Hameau de Faline 500 ft up on the only access road from Flaine to Les Carroz and down to the valley at Cluses. This is very traditional with a roaring open fire, restaurant and good atmosphere. They have a shuttle for when the bus stops. With sterling at 1.20 today prices are more sensible but these places are quite pricey and bar bills can mount up very quickly.

Thanks for your replies. Ended up booking the Club Hotel le Totem which is actually full board! As long as there are a couple of bars to visit in the evening then we'll be happy - it's a big family hotel so we'll need to escape from all the kids no doubt!

The Totem will probably be fairly full with families but it is a great option for a ski trip. The location could not be better with the hotel being effectively ski-in, ski-out. The food was pretty decent last year and they include wine with dinner and lunch if you are so inclined!
It may seem strange thinking of going back to the hotel at lunchtime but the great location of the Totem makes this a realistic option. However, be careful with your skis. There were a couple of pairs stolen last year from outside the hotel at lunchtime!!!
The pubs are not great but there are a few about.
