Nightlife - theres a good choice.
Favourites seem to be Paddy McGintys where you can get decent beer, have some food, watch sport on tv, get involved in quizzes and have a pretty good laugh.
I also like Ghost bar slightly further up the hill.
Theres a couple of late bars and clubs scattered around, you wont have a problem finding them.
Try the lounge bar at the Relais des Alpes lower down too, often decent live music.
I loved Sauze, good quiet slopes to bomb around on, and dont forget Sestriere, easy to get to.
Off piste - not a huge amount, and its actually illegal in Italy now. Be careful.

I seem to be in a minority in not being a fan of Paddy McGinty's. I find it brash and just like the bars I avoid at home. Nothing in the slightest reminds me of being in Italy. Especially as they seem to have no idea of the aperitivo tradition.
I much prefer Ghost bar or the wine bar/restaurant across the road from Paddy's. Unfortunately when in a group, you usually find some drawn into Paddy's before you've had time to suggest somewhere else.

I know exactly what you mean. But its an easy focal meeting point and its good banter in there. Plus the English lady H that runs it is lovely.
