i there,
I've been searching websites in Canada for ski packages to Port Du Soleil, and nothing seems to come up.
I was wondering a few things...
1. Which town is the best to stay for ski-in/out, activities and restaurants?
2. Which company provides a ski packages to any of these towns? Doesn't need to be Canadian, just one that comes highly recommended.
3. If no package is available, how do you arrange transportation to any of these towns?
4. Which hotels are highly recommended and located in the center of the town?
5. Should we hire a ski guide the first day or two, so we understand the terrain and routes (especially how to get back to our resort!)?
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
Port Du Soleil - need some help please!!

We atayed in Chatel when in PDS which was ok but not much was ski in/out - Avoriaz is better for that I think although Morzine has much more Alpine charm. Ski Independent is a company that springs to mind that you could look up on the web. Transport can be arranged either through SNCF (rail) or local bus companies http://www.gva.ch/en/Portaldata/1/Resources/fichiers/publications/publications_informative/aeroski-bus.pdf. If skiing on piste the routes back to resort are usually very clearly marked however off piste excursions are not patrolled or avalanched controlled in France so you would need a Guide if you wanted to ski outside of the marked pistes.

I will try to provide as useful answers as I can. Any other questions then I will be happy to help.
1.
The best town for ski in ski out is definitely Avoriaz, however it lacks the charm of Avoriaz, Chatel and Les Gets. Apres ski is good in Morzine and there are a wide range of excellent restaurants.
2. Which company provides a ski packages to any of these towns? Doesn't need to be Canadian, just one that comes highly recommended.
Powderbeds or ski independence and alpine elements all offer packages to The region and I can recommend them all.
3.
If you decide to book a hotel and flight separately then the ski transfer company Morzexpress charge €50 return transfer per person which is very reasonable.
4.
I can recommend the Lodge, it isn't in the centre of town but it is good value for money and the bus stop is right outside the hotel. Another favourite (but more expensive) is Hotel Les Airelles which is handily located about 100 meters from the pistes and roughly 300 meters from the town centre.
5.
It depends how competent at reading lift maps you are, yes the area is big, but there are lots of links back and the free bus service links from the majority of access points meaning if you do find yourself at the wrong lift at the end of the day you can hop on the lift to get back to your resort.
