May have an opportunity to go to Scotland for 3/4 days sometime soon, probably a mid-week break. Have never skiied there so would like to depending if the snow allows. What is the best resort to go to? Is it better to hire a car at the airport or can you rely on public transport? All help/tips great appreciated 8)

I would like to ask the same question as i am tempted by a few days there next year.

Can i also ask how long the runs are there? Looking at piste maps for the resorts they all seem to be quite short pistes. I really dont want to spend most of my time on lifts followed by 2 mins of skiing.
Skied: Arinsal, La Plagne, Alpe D'huez, Flaine, Les Arcs, Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Sauze, Courchevel, Val Thorens

It will be a question of the state of readiness, access, and if the are open on the day. Cairngorm seems to be the centre that is ready at the moment.
Although there is plenty of snow now, and due over the next few days, high winds are also forecast. That creates difficult conditions on the hill, creating scarce and hardpack on the runs.
Across the highlands, many key roads are currently closed, and some resorts like the Lecht and Glenshee may be difficult to reach.
It is a fact of life, for those of us who live reasonably close, (Glenshee 1.5 hrs, Cairngorm 2hrs). Ski days are very often a last minute decision.
