Anyone had experience of La Foux d'Allos and a smaller resort called nearby called Le Seignus - I'm due to go there in Jan 2011

I have not been there yet, but they did have some reasonably priced apartments for sale last year.
it looks a nice place.

Can't tell you anything about Foux from a personal point of view, but I have a work colleague who goes there every year. They fly to Nice and I think it's not a very long way from there.
Last year they went in late March and said had never seen so much snow.
They're keen skiers and also do other resorts, so there must be something they like about it.
I can't be in contact with her until next Wednesday, but can ask for some general info on the place if you like?

Great - that's very kind of you.
I believe it's no more than 2 hrs drive from Nice- they only have one bus a day that leaves from the airport so I'll probably have to hire a car.
From what I can see the lift passes aren't too expensive - hope this doesn't mean that the lift system is poor!
Thanks
Mike

A few years ago we went to Pra Loup which is linked to Foux d'Allos. I don't remember a resort called La Seignus though. Anyway I thought it was a really good resort, some good reasonably priced mountain restaurants. Not many non-French people there.

I've started to read up a bit about the place -it seems that it's much quieter than Pra Loup and perhaps more suited to families however one website did say that the link from Pra Loup to La Foux is a tricky/difficult red and only suitable for experienced intermediates (whatever that means). Any thoughts anyone?

I asked my colleague about Foux -
She said it is a quiet place, suited to families. (Not many places I've been in France have exactly been rocking in the evenings though)
As you said 2 hour drive from Nice. Said flights cheap to Nice in Winter which is a bonus.
Lifts good.
She is going to let me have the link to the website where she stays, there may be some things you haven't found out yet.
Bit slow with the info sorry. Looks like you've found a bit out though.
