Hi all well this season i've taken up skiing and i've so far progressed rather fast, i'm at the moment still having fun on begginer runs and will be ready next season to step up to Intermediate runs
Well currently i am using an old set of skis
Head cyber which are 170cm tall 104/60/100
I was looking at upgrading to a newer more modern set, i ski at groomed runs only at the resorts and every now and again some Xcountry at other free mountains
What skis can you recommend or am i on the right track with my choices below

Hi Alien, welcome to J2ski.
While your skiing is still advancing at a quick rate, I would suggest that you hire skis. The main benefit is that you can ski 2 or 3 different pairs in your weeks hire.
Cost-wise, when you deduct the ski transfer cost, plus the hassle of scooting them about, the difference is only £20/£30. You will rent a ski that is only one or two seasons old.
Skiset, that advertise on this site is one option, to give you an idea of hire cost.

I've just been kindly informed that buying skis is a waste of money and that we should all be renting instead.

Well, although I don't really think buying your own skis is a waste of money, what I really dislike is the price of new skis, I have never paid £300-£600 for a pair and never will, skis are far too over priced, my last pair came from Bandit, a good ski and even with the cost of flying them over from Switzerland I only paid £127, I should have really told you the ski they are Dynastar Leg-ends 8000.
