Hi,

Looking for a little advice from those of you who know Livigno.

We've been given a good quote for the San Giovanni Hotel. http://www.stgiovanni.com/eng/dove.php it's at the top end of the San Rocco area.

Most of our party wants to be close to the main centre of nightlife in Livigno and close to the main lifts. We've been told the hotel is 700m from 'bars, etc'. I have a feeling that there are bars throughout the 'high road' in Livigno. I'm worried that though we may be near some bars it won't be the main hub.

Any info about the location and how close it is to Livigno's amenities would be gratefully recieved.

There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the San Rocca area of Livigno, but there are plenty more in the Pedestrian area which is a fifteen walk which can be a pain when it is -19,
my preference is for the San Rocca end there are some good music bars and locals bars, and the restaurants are really good. Just be careful where your hotel is situated to the lifts to save you walking or busing.
Although I love Livigno I did find the skiing not taxing enough for me and the wife this March as we have not skied there since 1995 so review the level of ability of your party carefully.
If you need any more information PM me.

Thanks Wickers. Nice to have info from an unbiased source. I have a distrust of travel agents :-S

Our group ranges from just past beginner to near experts.

Our hotel is next to a drag on some nursery slopes which enables us to ski to the Carosella? Gondola.

Yes, hotel drag links into Carosella which means you will be able to ski back but the experts will find that the blacks are over graded and should only really be red the steepest is the run under the carosella back to the Gondola station but there are easier options to back down..
But don't let me put you off I have spent many summer and winter holidays in Livigno and its a fab place the pros are it is a very friendly village you can still pick up a glass of red for a Euro and if you enjoy Italian food Livigno will not let you down. If you decide to go PM nearer the time and I'll name you some good bars and restaurants that are worth a visit which will not break the bank.

Thanks for the advice Ian.

The person in charge of booking has taken us to Sauze this time. Maybe next year for Livigno. It's a resort I definitely want to visit soon.
