A quick day hit in Chamonix last weekend... a combination of a niggly knee & boot problems following a big day on the SW face of the Grande Casse (me), and coming from 3 weeks at sea level stuck in meetings in the US (Oli) meant we went for a gentle day with not too much up and a mellow ski down...

Mont Blanc looking rather fine:

Business as usual on the arete:

3 snow bikers, one of whom was shortly to try & knock me off the ridge when he turned round to chat to his mate...

Oli on the ridge up to the Noire shoulder:

A short ski down some nice pow, then a short but exposed scramble up to the main pitch:

Nice chalky snow all the way:

La face:

A few holes on the way back down the Periades Glacier:

The bottom of the VB was the usual circus, complete with skiing dwarf...

Big thanks to Damien at Sanglard/Boot Locker for finally sorting my boot issues - Merci!!

Lovely late season photos, but  all those folks on the arete. It must take an age to get down!

Skiing dwarf??, are you heightist or summat LOL

I think Damien is a pal of CEM's. Theirs is a small world!

Bandit actually it wasn't too bad as the arete goes - have seen it far worse...

Good picture quality , what camera are you using ?

It's a Panasonic TM300 - got it in the autumn & have been really impressed so far.. only problem is its so light you need super-steady hands (if you can't be bothered lugging a tripod everywhere).
The headcam shots are from a ContourHD 1080P, and the quality is shocking...currently about to experiment with a polarising filter, if not its going back for a refund..

offpisteskiing, the 1st pitch on the video looks utterly lovely 8) I think the middle bit with all those little sluffs and jump turns looks a bit on the steep side )
Great video though

Damien is a pal of CEM's, I enquired last week :D Apparently he's a bit handy on skis too.
