Maybe he's afraid to try the hockey stop - perhaps he's fallen trying it at some point?

Other than that, I can only think that he doesn't want to stop - I've seen lots of teenagers like that.

Bandit - I still use the snow-plough, but I have had ski instructors telling me off for using it. I find it very handy going down narrow, busy, blue runs, and going into the queue for the lifts, and at the start of the boarder cross for cutting down my speed.

I was watching something on telly yesterday showing amputee soldiers learning to ski on those special disability skis, and the instructors were doing a snow-plough and controlling their pupils with a long leash. So, yes I think the snow-plough is very useful and Ian should definitely practise it some more

Thanks for all replies to clarify he does want to stop more quickly just doesn't seem to be able to put theory of a dead stop into practice.

Generally in control turning,speed etc

Any videos or techniques any one can recommend

Thanks for all advice

Again pavb, he needs a whole week of lessons €120 should allow for six days group lessons as the private ones do not seem to be working, it should be all down to weighting the correct ski.
