The Impact 8's were the second boot I tried. We discussed my feet and skill level first, did the measurements, and then tried the first boot, which was too loose at the heel (can't remember the brand or model). Then we moved onto the Impact 8's, which felt much better. The fundamental problem is that my left foot is half a size bigger than my right, so there is no perfect boot for my feet. If I could get my hands on a left boot shell a size bigger and use my existing liner and footbed I'd be a happy man, but I'd probably have to go to Annecy and start raking through Salomon's dustbins to find such a thing

Max, most folks seem to have 1 foot bigger than the other. I know I have. A good fitter can make space in the shell for lumps and bumps. It's quite amazing what a little heat and the right tools can achieve :D

Most ski boot shells are made in whole sizes, with the half size being made up with thicker/thinner liners. Before you get bigger boots...get measured again!

Very interesting.
I ski in Impact 8's. They are definitely not a narrow boot, as my feet are not narrow.
I have one foot half a size bigger than the other, but I have no problems with mine at all.
However, I do find myself clipping one up tighter than the other as time goes by.

IMO the boots this person has are either not right for him or were not fitted properly, and as consensus suggests, he needs to go back to slush and rubble and discuss this with them in detail.

You probably want to discuss this at an off peak time and when you can get a hold of the manager. You should ring up to find out when he will be in and drop by.

My right boot is amply tight - albeit after only a few days on the snow - on the following buckles: 1,2,1,1. (from the toe to the shin, in order). On the left, 0,1,1,1 is still too tight. Does this seem right to you?

No, I usually have them on 3,2,2,2 both feet, maybe 3,2,3,3 on one.

Yeah, my previous boots (bought 10 years ago without fitting) started out 1,2,2,2 on the left and 2,3,2,2 on the right, then eventually bedded down to 2,2,3,3 left and 3,4,3,3 right.

I'll see what I can persuade S&R to do for me. Thanks everyone.
