I think I'll change to shorter skis, they come up to my nose so may be too long for me. Then I think I'll spend a couple of hours on the lower slopes practising my technique.

Tino, there's not a lot of boarders here and one guy in the chalet who brought his own board has reverted back to skis, something to do with the pisting :?:

No more cage, no more rage, cos I've turned me a brand new page, much better
I'm free to be me and as far as I can see it's much better.

..... pah one must be able to ride on anything, I have yet been to a place that is unsuitable for snowboards, okay some places take a lot more concentration and speed to get through flats etc, but you just go faster )

Caron, has the slope been groomed to hardpack? That can be miserable on a soft board!

Chill out if the weather is pants, it's not a contest! )

If there is snow, one can ski or board. Maybe Caron's friend has simply seen the error of his ways.

Caron - skis up to your nose are not too long, but you can probably lose 10cm off them and feel more comfortable. The shorter skis may well turn sharper and will not be as fast in a straight line. Hope you find something you are comfortable on.

Caron,
Well done for ski-ing down that red under the gondola. I looked at it when we were there but decided it was too steep and zig-zaggy for me. And I know what you mean about that blue. We skied down it every morning from the top of the gondola to my daughter's lessons, and it has a sharp left and if you don't notice it you go straight down, presumably to the black you were on (my daughter went the wrong way one day, until I yelled at her). I fell over on that blue, somewhere near the top, on my first morning there. It can get very icy.

Well done for sticking to the ski-ing, after the trouble you've had with your knee

Man oh man, what a day!

Went up in the gondola to the blue you were talking about Ally and it was horrendous. Visability was very poor and the snow was unpisted, there were a lot of people falling over (me included) and people were really struggling with the roads (me and the boys included). We stopped at the Nederhutte for lunch and talked about giving up when the clouds parted and I've had one of the best afternoons of my life on the blues and reds round by Davidshutte. We even did a little off piste in the trees a la obergiggle

The new skis come up to my chin and have made the world of difference, I still don't look the part but I can do it

A great way to end 2009

Caron, this might be a silly question, but why do you only ski when the sun is out? Do you own a pair of goggles?
