Hi,

Les Arcs is an excellent choice, with many wide and comfortable pistes for those starting out, the pistes will help your skiing no end and i cannot talk the place up enough(although to be honest i am a little biased towards the area).

All the areas are well connected with blues and manageable reds and there are a multitude of gentle tracks also.

Have a great time, and an enjoyable ,safe trip.......I have a suspicion you will go again after this year and for years to come :D

Yes indeed it is ,i think it's around 15 - 20 euros a pop, you get supplied with a helmet and some 230cm planks (skin tight latex suit, not provided........unless you have something similar in the wardrobe? :D).

I think there is an international Speed skiing competition on the Flying Km in Febuary from memory, the public can use it from mid march onwards i think......and if you go over 80 k/ph you get a bronze medal ,100k/ph silver and i think it's 150 for a gold.....if you can overhall the world record of 262k/ph(or there abouts) a clean pair of pants will be provided :D :D

Les Arcs played host to my second ever week of skiing, and I've returned to the skiing there twice since whilst based in La Plagne. It's an expansive ski area with a wide variety of skiing available, and I would certainly say an excellent place fo begginers and intermediates.

Unless you really cover a lot of mileage, I wouldn't bother paying for the joint Les Arcs-La Plagne pass for the whole week. There's plenty of good skiing within Les Arcs, and if La Plagne is really attractive for some reason or other (better conditions, say) you can always upgrade on the day.

Being 12 last time we stayed, I wasn't in charge of getting the ski passes, but if it's like the majority of french alpine resorts buying it when you're there won't provide any problems. I think (hope) the Euro exchange is only going to improve, so maybe wait and see.

I hope you enjoy your trip!
