I've heard even worse things about that place!!! £5 for a small bottle of water :shock:rustyinn wrote:Tony_H wrote:Oh dear. Val d'Isere and discounts just dont go. Expect to pay top dollar for almost everything out there. There are stories of £10 coffees, £25 burgers and £18 pints of lager, although I am sure its not all that silly.
I'd make sure you have a decent financial advisor though.
mmmm sounds like Courcheval ! never eat/drink at the restaurant near the altiport unless you have a full wallet or big overdraft.

Unless the airport is having a bad day, you will be landing on the Swiss side on a BA flight from LHR. You will need Swiss Francs for spends.

i think i might purchase a lighter and melt the snow for water, or just drink from the tap. I found out that the drinking water from the taps are drinkable

We found a shop in Geneva airport selling a 6 pack of San Pellegrino (fizzy water) plus a free bag for it, for only 7.8 Swiss Francs. You could get that when you fly in, and all your lunch drinks would be sorted for the week .
Actually, we bought the 6 pack the night before we flew home, and then the two of us managed to drink them all before we got in trouble going through the stop and search department, for having liquids in our hand luggage.

TheoBane, If you are arriving at the Swiss side of Geneva, then there is a Migros supermarket in the SBB railway station attached to the airport. Sells most things, really good for sandwiches, crisps, choccy. Same level as the arrivals hall, at the end of the station shopping mall.
