As Rocher de Bellevarde is in Val D'Isere, not Tignes and the green runs in that resort are notoriously steep, I can't agree with your suggestion

My bad on the resort, and come to mention it the grading up there was a wee bit questionable.

Niederau is good for beginners. Slopes are 30 metres from hotel. There are 3 drag lifts on the beginner slopes. It might be better to ski down at the bottom all week.

The problem with a gondola not going up, you can usually see just a 20ft drop. Coming down, you are looking at a 2000ft distance.

The fear of heights can be overcome in many, but not all cases. Familiarisation is a key factor. A prospective member of my family had this problem, so I worked with her to overcome her fear, and also with her skiing, she is now competent, and quite fearless. Had to do this before I could let her marry my son!

Hi there,
In Bansko there is a green run at the top of the gondola and when you have mastered that, there is a 9km blue run down to the town with a drag lift about half way down on a very nice blue section (There's also a bar here which is handy.
There are a few restaurants and cafe's at the top of the gondola too, so meeting up for lunch is no problem.
We have had quite a few guests who have been scared of heights and they have been fine in the enclosed gondola.
There's also a very short chair lift that does not go very high which is a great next step for anyone who is nervous but wants to have a go at a small lift.

Alpe D'huez does exactly this. There are, I believe, 4 button lifts servicing the huge expanse of greens (I'm sure I've read that these lifts are now free) and once he's progressed he can get into a gondola that'll drop him at the top of these very long greens. It'd be perfect for him (I know from experience, I'm afraid of heights too).

Good luck
