has anyone been to obertauern?

We're big Leogang fans. We stayed in the Salzburgerhof for a week a couple of years ago and enjoyed the late season runs when Saalbach was suffering a little with all the slush.
Infact we're considering booking ourselves in for a night next month. It would be good to try the runs again now that we're better skiers. Might even pop over to Zell am See where we first learnt to ski. It was only five years ago but I can't really remember any of it. Other things on my mind I'd expect :D

thanks very much nadia race for your reply it has alot of interesting information. one of the things we like about austria is the traditional feel about the place so we might have to think again or go back to obergurgl!!!! if there is anywhere else you can recommend that is similar to obergurgl? thanks

Hi Claret
I have been to the small village of Katchberg ( Near St Michel/Tamsweg ), its very traditional, cosy and good skiing. If you are driving you might need chains for the last section of road up to the village. Other than that Obergürgl again, or you might like to visit me in Leogang. Its very :P nice here too.Not so tight and compact as Öbergürgl but with Northfacing slopes to the village it holds the snow till end of season. By the way - where in Yorkshire , I am South Yorks when I am in UK.
