Hope you have a great time Amanda.
I'm hoping to go back for the Nightrace this year but i'll be a singleton as the Mrs has no spare holiday to take for next year.
Some free shares that i get from my company every years vests in January, so im gonna go and plonk myself in the travel agents a few days before and see what deals they've got. And Schladming will be first choice for me! Hopefully i'll be able to get a spare single room somewhere. (Not really expecting anything though for that week)
Schladming info please

My preference used to be Italy, but I went to Schladming in Jan 09 and I'm booked up to go back this winter too. Cant wait.
The skiing is awesome - mainly reds that suit good intermediate skiers. The main mountain above schladming, the Planai,is shouldered by neighbouring mountains Hauser Kaibling, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm - all connected. Then theres the Dachstein glacier just down the road. Oh, and about 20 other mountains in the broader area that make up the Ski Amade lift pass area. I can't comment on these as I did not travel much past Schladming last time - one of the reasons to go back.
Can't say I know too much about the nightlife - but there were a fair number of hostelries and discos open to the wee small hours. But, yes, its a working town, and most people who go there are more into the skiing than night life, I think. The toboganing on the Hochwurzen is fab - took us an hour or so to get down in the dark. Not many from UK there, but the locals are very friendly indeed.
