That's the lift at Grand Montet, bandit and I have discussed that before :D I think it's a amazing cheek, the day pass isn't any cheaper than anywhere else and they have the nerve to have a leaflet telling you it's great value because if you don't use that lift you don't pay for it.

I remember that discussion

It revolved around me saying it was possible to ski, and enjoy Argentiere without going to the top......and you calling me names. Hmmmmm

Just got back from Chamonix having spent 3 nights there. Read a number of reports about the resort and how lively the apres ski was.. sadly the French have no idea and if you want apres skie go to Austria. The snowboarding was good although Brevent from Chamonix was expensive on the mountain for lunch, probably 10 to 15 euros dearer that Les Houches or Les Grand Montets. Snow park at Grand Montets was well groomed and the jumps awesome. Watch out for the wicked "extreme teleski" as they call it on Grand Montets from the big cable car on the red run to the right if it doesn't flick you off in the first 50 yards it will rip your groin to pieces with the speed of the drag, not for the beginner or faint hearted!!! Les Houches is a lovely mixture of red and blue runs with the odd black. The park is small but the runs are tree lined and in tune with Austrian resorts. Having experienced the Cham resort I'm glad I did but not sure I would return again based on the apres and the prices, I think you get better value for money in Austria even with the Euro rate, nicer people and beter resorts.

Hi folks,

I'm off to Chamonix a week on Friday to carve it up with the lads. I believe there is a snowpark now, however, it's not clear which pass we need to get to the snowpark? Do we need Chamonix le Pass or Mont-Blanc Unlimited?

Bellfi,

Have a look at:

http://www.compagniedumontblanc.fr/pages/information_forfaits_chamonix_gb.html

I was there for 3 days about 2 weeks ago and regret not getting the full pass. We skied 1 day at Brevent/ Flegere, and 2 days at Argentiere. If I went back again, I would defo get a full pass and have unlimited access to the top of the Grand Montets. Coming down from the top of Grand Montets beside the Argentiere glacier is one of life's pleasures and isn't difficult skiing. Depends on how gutsy your kids are..!

You could by the green pass and then see how you get on an then upgrade should you need to. This would mean that you would only need to pay for the extra access on the days that you actually used it, rather than the whole lot.

Hope this helps.
