Hmmm.

Niederau is a popular destination for beginners and early intermediates

Perfectly respectable, of course. But is there any more to it than that?

Could be that we go for quality, not quantity )

Bandit, I'm hurt, and mentally scarred. i promise I am going to turn over a new leaf very very very soon, no more P*ss takes only serious stuff from now on. Look out for my next posting. If you can stay awake !!!

Clubman: The Ski Club of GB is well paid to give Niederau a duff write-up in an attempt to keep it secret

Jan I Stenmark, well the j2ski assessment doesn't seem much different, judging by the star ratings. It seems to be a low resort, with a small area, served by a few lifts. Seems to have a reasonable snow record.

I really don't want to get into a bun fight over this - especially since I am new here. But I am curious. What 's the off-piste like?

And to show my pig-ignorance, what is this thread about - do you guys normally have some sort of even there?

PS - I have linked twice to the SCGB site for convenience - no axe to grind - these days I am not a member.

Me - I'm off to Canada for the season.

Have to say that I don't fully understand the attraction to Niederau as looking at the piste map there isn't much there but given the amount of posts it gets and the people on here that go I am intrigued and would love for someone to explain what isn't shown on the piste maps.....

I'm sure as I have said before "N" is possibly a fantastic place, this is just a bit of fun to stimulate a little bit of light hearted chat to mix in with the more serious stuff, a healthy balance.
But guy's if you haven't guessed I'm always up for a bun fight !!!!

I won't be going back, I prefer to remember it as the place I had that eureka moment as a 15 year old on skis for the first time. That week in the mountains was a life changing experience for me, even if it was another 9 years before I could afford to go again.
Now I think I would get bored fairly quickly, I could probably ski the whole area in a morning. That's not knocking the resort, they all have a niche.
