Yes, it's glacial, and the areas each side of most lifts were roped off with crevasse signage. I was chatting to a skier from Bern on one lift and he told me that most folks are into carving, and like to stay on pistes that are firm and machine groomed. That suited me just fine :D

Some of the crevasses are easy to spot! At the top of the image is the end of the access tunnel from the KM cable car, and my escaped ski, went off straight down the fall line.

Of course, it's the ones that you can't see which would swallow you up....

Ta very much :D The image with the crevasses is of the Klein Matterhorn, which is sort of next door, or opposite depending on which way you are looking at the time, to the Matterhorn.
I think you would enjoy a ski down from the Klein Matterhorn, the pisted slopes are quite gentle, wide open, and perfect for practice.

I did manage to get 4 pairs of skis tested during the 2 days of the test, plus 2 days free skiing.

My non technical, amateur view, is that they are all really good skis. I would have liked to have given the Dynastar's a good test, but the binding brake problems made me feel uncertain about their safety. I saw the test centre tech applying rather a lot of brute force to the brake arm after I handed the skis back.
For me the Movement Black Rose was the best of the bunch, and a really well sorted ski, and put a smile on my face :D

Was talking about Zermatt with my OH today, agreeing we needed to get back again for a third visit.
I have a half finished painting of a Matterhorn view from the town. I have managed to get the mountain OK, but ran out of time and light to get the foreground finished off. That's my reason for going back and I'm sticking to it! :-)

:lol: Well, flattery will get you everywhere, I can only see a fat middle-aged bird in the photo personally )

The rucksack is a Dakine womens' Heli-pro and I have just washed the bloodstains off it, after splitting a knuckle open and not noticing in the cold temps. How very ladylike :roll:

Ski testing is a tough job, but someone has to do it....which is what I told my OH when I booked, neglecting to mention that it is a public event :D

When the sunlight hits the side of the Matterhorn the illumination is exceptional. Did you paint a winter or summer view?

Errm, nope, just a young shapely chick. (Is this right bandit??) Wasn't lookin at no rucsacs!

Have occasionally thought about ski test weeks, but have concluded would prefer to give priority to helping disabled skiers, ~ training is the same time of year. As it happens, guide dogs still taking priority. We are often training two dogs at once.

Painting was started in March light, the light differential is stunning, and hopefully I have caught that. The problem is that the foreground takes up 90% of the time. Unfortunately, our friends stayed in the next room, and the afternoon light was interupted every day, by the opening of a bottle or two. :roll:

Dave Mac, I'm still thinking less like a chick and more like an old broiler, but I can accept a compliment :D
I can quite believe that the foreground is the most difficult part. You will be going back to the same hotel, and you will need the same room, naturally :D

Coincidentally, In the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise cable cars 2 days running, I did see a fella with a Disability Snowsports UK sticker on his helmet, though I saw no training underway on the slopes.
