Jan,

Setting off on Thursday to Niederau, knees open on the journey, cos that's the only way you can fit into an easyjet seat! That will all change on Friday when I buy my season pass, and then close my legs.

I learned to ski when Franz Jochum was the head instructor, and he's not a bad skier eh?

Hey, it isn't life and death, it's a sport. I want to ski fast, legs together, and avoid falling. When it's icy, I open up. Sometimes, do open knees on the piste, just for the hell of it. Sometimes ski on one ski, sometimes backwards, (never intentionally though)

It's only a game, get a life. Is Christiano Ronaldo more or less stylish than George best? It doesn't matter.

Jan, for all this wisdom, you owe me one Zipfer marzen!

Dave Mac Based on your measurement criteria for good skiing, this guy must be totally pants. I mean, just look at how far apart his knees are :D

And this one too, he clearly should take lessons, you could drive a bus between those knees :D

I wish I was that bad a skier.

I think the excagerated wide stance of GS/DH racing looks as ungainly on the piste as the feet together pose. That is only at transition, as the distance between feet mid turn is determined by inclination and parrallel legs and is as wide as it needs to be.

I like about about a foot between my feet at transition as this feels natural and stable. Now I've started racing a bit, I have widened my stance on the course as it does seem more stable when you are pushing your limits.

because I'm so inclined .....

skiing feet together is less stable, hinders angulation at the ankle and knee joints, but most importantly it looks mincey!

Ben76, you are right, legs together is less stable. You should be paidextra to ski like that.

I was a war baby, and can assure you that mince was a luxory.

Ah yes, a luxury indeed. I think the Zulus liked to keep it all for themselves.

See you in the Bichlhof this weekend!
