I wouldd think that snow machines get switched on after hours (when it's definitely cold enough) and it doesn't shower everyone in crystals! I'm sure it also depends on the number of people who are using the slopes with the more people using them requiring more snow-making.
Was wondering if you guys have any apres ski suggestions for Tignes Le Lac? I'm keen to try La Folie Douce but was wondering if there's anything more central to Le Lac. Do you know how much a pint is?

Apres ski not our thing, sorry! We enjoy a beer or two straight off the slopes and then it's a quiet night in with the family. La Folie Douce is pretty mad and also pretty expensive. Expect to pay absolute top dollar there. Watch your ski gear as well as it's a bit of a crime hot spot. We skied with some australians a couple of years ago and one of them lost their board (with no insurance. I think it was a 700 euro bill. Ouch!).
There will be cheaper places to drink in Tignes. Others might be able to advise.
By the way, the funicular up to the Grand Motte is out of action although it's possible to use a chair lift instead but queues might be considerable if you pick the wrong time.

The pistes have been steadily getting worse over the first three skiing days of our holiday. We're heading over to Tignes tomorrow so will have a better view of that side of the resort then.

All wonderful reasons not to go to Val D'Isere!
I would rather stick pins in my eyes.

Sorry Brucie, but that's just a pig ignorant post. We witnessed hundreds of very happy people skiing in Val d'Isere today (including us). If you don't have anything useful to contribute, then don't bother.

Your post simply reflected why I would not consider returning to Val.
Didn't mean to offend. Sorry.
