Hi AllyG
When going to Madonna d. Campiglio I've booked flights to Milano Bergamo or Verona, both airports are about 2.5 hours from the resort, I suppose a little longer for Folgarida. If there's many of you going you could maybe consider a getting a transfer by a private coach - the resort's tourist office/accommodation provider will be able to recommend you a local company.

Thanks very much for your advice :)
None of us have ever been there before!

Hi AllyG,Let me know if there's anything I could help with, haven't stayed in Folgarida itself but 5 times in Madonna di Campiglio (last time Feb 2012), skied in Folgarida, Marilleva, Pinzolo.
The new train link looks good.

When I've thought of something I want to ask you, I'll send you a pm ...

Hi.
The nearest airport should be Innsbruck, however Verona is good too, probably a couple of hours away.
I have been to Val Gardena several times both in the winter (I normally stay in Santa Cristina) and in the Summer, so if you need any information, please shout.

Innsbruck is probably the best airport to use for northern dolomites, although it can close in fog and high winds. But Verona and Venice also have a history of fog closing them down and its a longer transfer from the italian airports.

Most package holidays will include flights into a suitable airport, you just have to choose where to fly from.

Can I suggest you talk with Simon's Transport (Simon Dellago) out of Ortisei. He picked us up (6 persons) from our Munich hotel and took us back to Innsbruck Airport at very reasonable fares and all to meet our timing. Buses to Val Gardena on weekdays are not so easy.
All the best, Peter R
