From talking to BA previosuly that's my understanding and they don't quibble that he bags an odd shape, if you can fir everything in your ski bag and so long as it's under 23kg your fine.
I just wish I could pack that light.
:-(
I cant. But I can pack 2 pairs of skis in the bag and let Mrs H take a suitcase with out clothes in. Then do what I said I never would.........put ski boots in hand luggage!!!
I can see your problem but unfortunately it is down to your ski boot packing issue, as you know
we fly with BA every January, for the three of us we need two cases for clothing now the third persons luggage allowance is a double ski bag which will hold two pairs of skis and boots, I would guess normally for the two of you you fit your clothing into one case and the second persons allocation is your ski bag, I don't see any way out for you unless you take your boots out of the suit cases, remember BA will charge you if you put your boots separately into the hold from your ski bag.To pay or not to pay that is the question !!!!! -)
Normal process is 1 case each, boots in case, and 1 ski bag each - on charter flights, and we pay for ski carriage.
With BA, to avoid paying for an extra bag I thought 1 case with all clothes in, and 1 double ski bag for 2 pairs of skis, each up to 23kg.
That means boots wont go into checked baggage, so my point was about putting ski boots in hand luggage with BA going through Heathrow and Lyon.
BA as you know have no weight limit on hand luggage, just size.
