Hi all, Me and a few mates fancy going back to Austria and having a laugh like we did when we were in our 20's - now in 40's.

We love the tree lined runs in Austria and the mountain cabins for a beer or two. Apres good fun but not mad now, so more likely have the 3pm -4pm session and finish at 8-9 then chill sauna etc...

Was looking at St. Anton or Mayrhofen / Kitz as remember good times there.

Anyone got any ideas on where and accommodation? 8)

Yep.
St Anton is the best of the best IMO, top skiing, great resort and plenty of bars around. Good quality accommodation, maybe a little pricey though.
As for Mayrhofen, a good town in the valley with plenty of places to eat/drink and more affordable than St Anton. Decent ski area too, perfect for a long weekend IMO. Accommodation readily available on the official website www.mayrhofen.at
Can't comment on Kitz not having been there.

Zilpha7 have alook at Schladming. We are a group of similar age (well some of us are over 50) and have been there for 5 years on the trot so it must have something going for it. Less than 75 minutes coach from Salzburg and you can get there by train in a similar time. Breaking with tradition this year and going to Soll!!

I've organised a few long weekends in Soll for the past couple of years. The flight times from Dublin mean that we can fly into Munich early Saturday morning, hire a car and buzz down the motorway to the resort in about 90 minutes. This means we can be on the mountain by late lunchtime!. We fly out Tuesday evening after nearly a full days skiing. So for 3 nights away and 2 days off work, we ski for 3.5 days.

Soll suits a boys weekend reasonably well - decent and pretty extensive skiing, great afternoon apres ski (bars full of Germans and Austrians bellowing out Europop and traditional songs - great fun), usually plenty of laid back live music around the pubs in the evenings and reasonably cheap as ski resorts go.

I would recommend it but it is really the flight timings that make it work - you want somewhere with short transfers and flight times that enable you to ski on arrival and/or departure day.
