Hi,
I am going to Val d'Isere in February and staying at the Chalet Marsala. I want to know where is best to rent skis and want to be as close as possible to the chalet.
Does anyone know exactly where this chalet is or has an address?
Thanks

I can't help you with the Ski rental at your location, but I seem to recall there are plenty of options around, but a quick google for your chalet turns up the following

Chalet Marsala
73150 Val d'Isère, France

Which is right by the Tourist Office smack bang in the middle of town.

Hope that is the correct one for you.

I'm staying there in January! From what I've read its very close to the Solaise / Belvard lifts, there's loads of rental places in the village, unforunately I'm crap at remembering names of places, but the village isn't far from the chalet either.

Have you read the reviews on Trip Advisor? There might be some info on there, here's the link anyway: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g187271-d656106-r29191067-Chalet_Marsala-Val_d_Isere_Savoie_Rhone_Alpes.html#REVIEWS

Will let you know what I think when I get back!

I'm staying there in January too - think it may be same week as you NellyPS (fly on 23rd)

I'm getting my ski hire via Ski Republic who have a place at Rond Pont des Pistes (which I reckon is v close but dont knwo the exact location of the chalet - the Google map just points you at the middle of the village)

Ski Republic do buy one get one free so I'm hopeful of getting a bargain (though I have never used them before anywhere else in the Alps)

We are there the same week! Going by overnight train on the 22nd, arriving early morning of the 23rd and will be on the slopes by 9.

See you there!

The Marsala is apparently on Rue de La Balme. If you ski down the Face, turn left along the road that tunnels under the foot of the piste, this is Rue de la Face, but it becomes Rue de la Balme a few hundred yards further down. I think that the Marsala isn't far down the road.

I don't remember there being any hire shops in that area, but it's not too far from the centre of Val. andyoneil's suggestion of going to a shop at Rond Pont sounds pretty reasonable.

We're off there on 16th Jan :-)

So, we just got back from a week at the Chalet Marsala, had a great time, food was plentiful and adequate, rooms were warm and comfortable (although the owner goes round and turns all the radiators off during the day), skiing was, of course, brilliant, cakes in the afternoon at the chalet were fantastic!

The chalet is a very short walk to both the town and the slopes, funnily enough its next door to a hotel we stayed at 3 years ago. Its on the road behind the main drag through Val and about 5 minutes to the slopes. The closest ski hire is Sport 2000, if you go to the end of the drive way and turn left, then right, then right onto the main road, you will see it on the left, although you might want to shop around, there's so many shops to chose from - Andy O was there last week too and he had hired from Ski Republic who were doing a 2 for 1 deal, although not as close as Sport 2000, they have a number of shops in resort, and I know you can get the yellow bus from the bottom of the drive to one of them. Here's the website http://www.ski-republic.com/en/resort/ski-hire-and-rental-in-val-disere

The lifts are in the opposite direction, end of driveway, turn right, walk about 5 minutes and you're there. Good warm up for the legs too as there's a slight incline.

Hope you have a great time, we did!

I'm glad you had a good time, Nelly, and the cakes made it worth travelling all that way
