I'm sure this has been covered on other threads but 1. I am profoundly lazy and 2. I need to get booking... so... any decent hotels anyone can recommend ideally between Dijon/Lyon? Priorities are; chance of a decent night's sleep, acceptable restaurant, not too far off motorway, ideally in/around small town so we can have a bit of a stroll around, and good value.
Thanks!

Have you looked at this website accorhotels.com
The Accor group owns Ibis, Mercure and Novotel. We have used Ibis a few times. Many are on the outskirts of towns and have restaurants attached. Often they have dedicated family rooms which sleep 4 people or so. You can check prices and availability on the website. We have also used Formule 1 hotels - basic no-frills establishments, but always clean and tidy. Just google Formule 1.
Can't recommend an exact location as I've never done that particular route, but there's plenty of people on here who have.

Thanks Allie, I did take a peek on the Accor site and there's bags of choice.
Yeah, I knew that.

I stayed in the Ibis at Geneva airport, and it was fine, something like a Premier Inn or maybe a bit better, and it was 114 Swiss Francs per night per room for 2 people.
We have also stayed in a Mercure, which was much posher. I got our rooms on one of those discount websites and it was loads cheaper (£70 per night for a twin instead of £130).

When driving down to the Valais, we stop off at Le Val Moret. It's a 3-Star Logis de France motel at Magnant, 5 minutes off Jct.22 of Autoroute 5, just south-east of Troyes. That's a bit north of your preferred area, but it's very convenient and has a great, but not pretentious restaurant. It's in the Champagne region so it's nice to try some of the local offerings. Cost is €53-€86 for a double room, depending on amenities. Rooms are fairly plain with parking outside, and the site is secure overnight, and is a cinch to find from the motorway. Take a look at http://www.le-val-moret.com/ or if it doesn't suit your fancy, take a look at the Logis de France website at http://www.logis-de-france.fr/uk/index.htm.

Etap hotels are dirt cheap, pretty good quality and plentiful.
Ibis are ok but more city based.
I try to avoid Formula 1 if I can though.
Campanile are also ok and seem to be all over the place.

Thanks AllyG, Tony_H and msej449 especially. My thoughts are - have a look at Logis, I hadn't thought of that as a resource, and if not Campanile. This is all subject to BA strike going ahead and us having to drive... Eurotunnel booked as a contingency...
Yeah, I knew that.
