I had this done today, by this fella http://www.mccannix.com/alignment.htm

He works closely with cem and my boots feel quite different now:

The Base Boards have been ground down....

Some Shims got fitted...

The Heels had a 3mm raise inside the boot...

The boot sole had a 1 degree outside grind...

The cuff canting got adjusted...

Cem then attached 2 sole plates to my boots :D

:D

I'm looking forward to trying my boots out on snow now I'm standing much better in them :D

BTW If you are thinking of visiting cem for new boots, call soon. He's starting to run out of some small sizes, I saw it happen today, and he is very busy

Your boots must be nearly unrecognisable from when you first put them on! Do I detect a zipfit liner in there as well? )

How do they feel different to stand up in?

(if its possible to explain.)

The Zipfit liner was fitted by cem from the start. Now, when I stand in the boot, I feel I'm standing square on the ground, as though I would be difficult to push over. I'm used to having to push my knees out to get the boots to be flat to the floor (snow), and do all sorts of weird stuff with my skeletal muscles to make my skis work. The work that Andi has done, means I can ski with a narrower stance and my skis will still work, and there is less strain on my back and knees :D

I'd been cautioned by cem to expect a little tightness during the running period on the Zipfits, as the filler material is settling. However they've been comfy from the outset :D

Then it's a good job you don't need to )

Anyway, for you, it's not even remotely going to be an issue that will need addressing :D

Sounds very interesting. I'll be curious to see if you notice a difference on the snow!
