So after a shaky week in Andorra 4 years ago and a long weekend in Whistler last year, myself and the other half are headed skiinig again for a few days. I have just booked flights to Geneva for the 31st JAn and had in mind spending a few days in Geneva, then heading skiing for 4 days and then travelling on to Milan to visit and then fly home. So the theory is good...but I am so confused by all the ski resorts! Basically I am looking for a safe beginners resort with affordable (non-rip off ) accomadation. I dont mind travelling from geneva quite a distance to get a good deal. Any suggestions!! I am lost already!!!

Hi Grand Bornand is a great place to ski a hour from Geneva exit at Bonneville (16)on motorway and take route station Aravis.Hotel Vermont takes bookings for odd days and is 150 metres from cable car
which takes you up to Chinalon.Hotel has a nice fitness area, small pool sauna and Jaccuzi.Hope this helps.

Crans Montana has some friendly tree lined novice slopes and is on the sunny side of the Rhone Valley, 2 1/2 hours from Geneva. Accommodation will be typically Swiss, prices vary, but not pricey unless you seek it out. You could continue onwards towards Milan through the Gotthard Tunnel.
