Milkyway Ski Area

Hi Guys

Would love some help on choosing which resort to stay at in the Milky Way area. The online ski maps that I have found are hopeless and I am a bit concerned about the amount of drag lifts We are a group of 4 intermediate skiers and snowboarders aged 40's and 18's. Must have ski to door! Any help appreciated. Thanks

Sauze, no doubt about it. Very few drags and they are located one side which is often shut. There used to be a long drag on the link back from Sestriere but I hear they have been replaced this year, but I went with a group of boarders and they were ok on this. Sestriere is a soulless place but has some good skiing, and Montgenevre us much more expensive. Claviere is supposed to be nice and quiet, but Sauze is cheaper and has good choice of places to eat and drink.

Agree with TH. I was in Claviere last year, it's a small quiet resort and there are only chair lifts to get you up the mountain, this opens up onto lots of skiing, although Sestriere is a bit of a trek, Montgenevre is more accessible and has plenty of chairs to move you around.

When I want to Sauze I didn't venture any further than that resort, found there to be more than enough to keep me amused for a week.

Sauze, but DO take a trip over to Sestriere on a good day - some really nice skiing and the snow is usually a bit better.

As an intermediate, Sauze will suite you down the the ground - it was my fourth ski trip and I reckon I covered just about every run around the resort. Sestriere is a must, but certainly in March there was still a long drag lift to get back, except weekends when the two-way single seater was open. A coach trip to Montgenevre is also a must.

From what I saw of other accommodation, ski in/out might be difficult to find, but most appears within 5 to 10 minutes walk of a lift.

Yeah - go to Montegenevre.

And watch the locals strolling about with poodles and baguettes.

And dont do what he did and turn up with a hangover so that you spend an hour of the morning sitting in a cafe getting a grip.
