O.K it's a bit late in the year to be talking about Summer skiing[ or very early depending on your outlook on life !!] :D
My wife and I spent 6 mornings in August glacier skiing in Zermatt
Had we known that half the advertised slopes were closed we would probably only have gone for 2 days and saved one hell of a lot of money.
Of the 10 available runs [ as shown to be open on the board down at the valley lift station] only 5 were open. The others were reserved by international ski teams for their own use.[ including a really nice red run]
O.k you don't expect much skiing in the middle of Summer, but given that the lift pass was nearly as much as the Winter pass we resent being mis sold by the lift Company.
I have complained to them but they refuse to accept that the slopes were not open / incorrectly advertised - but I know what I saw !!
I was also a little perturbed that they were using a piste basher to prepare a piste in the middle of the morning on a crowded slope. Not only very dangerous but a little out of character at this time of the day. They said it must have been for an emergency [which it was not - I was there to witness the fact]
All in all the resort has let me down and will not be recieving my custom again nor will I recommend it to others !!

Hi,
There is some good skiing to be had in Tignes on the Grande Motte and also the Pissalais glacier above Le Fornet/Val D'isere in summer, and another that has a godd reputation is the glacier above Hintertux in Austria.

I have skied Zermatt once in September and once in November. During September, only the uppermost glacier slopes were open as the resort had yet to install their snowmaker at Trockener Steg. Very busy with race teams as it's good for training. I asked in the Tourist Office and I was told that it's good business for them to get race lanes to be rented by National Teams.
It was pretty scary for an ordinary recreational skier to be passed by racers heading for the same lift, at race speeds.
The November I was there had powder and pretty epic queues for the cable cars.
