Hi folks, I am looking to plan a trip to Switzerland (Stans/Stanstedt? area) around mid to late March. Going to be hoping to snowboard everyday and just wondering if that is still a good time in the season or if conditions get sloppy. Also, where are good places to check out in that area. Willing to drive also, apparently to Matterhorn for 1 day which I am told is about 2 hours away.

Welcome to J2ski :D I know nothing about the Stans area for skiing/boarding, except that it's in Luzern. but I do know that most resorts will plan to close the week after Easter, around about the 18th April. The exception are the glacier resorts like Saas-Fee and Zermatt. Any slopes at 1500m or above should be fine until then, though you might want to have c/c or gondola access to avoid afternoon base station slush!
I have skied to season close in Switzerland for several winters, and I've always had 1 or more fresh powder days.
Zermatt will give it's slopes a rest for a week or two in May AFAIK, and re-open for summer skiing. BTW I don't think anyone has tried to snowboard down the Matterhorn, but there are plenty of slopes to slide down in the surrounding area of Zermatt )
As for places to try, have a look on J2ski at the resorts list, and decide on which ones will suit your riding needs :D

Go to Zermatt for the full week. I boarded there in May (Pablo was along with his skis) and only 30% of the resort was open. Awesome and plenty enough for 3 days, so the full range must be great. You also have the much cheaper Igaly option for lunch with an absolute autobahn running down from the top of the Kleine Matterhorn to Cervinia. Red 7 all the way and 2km of vertical!!!!

Engelberg is quite close to Stans and will have lifts open into May more then likely. There is a glacier area that goes up to about 3000m and a few runs under that that I have boarded in mid May the year before last.
