I'm looking for resort villages that have good skiing in their "backyard," and are ON the Sella Ronda. Want to avoid traveling on groomed trails for 40 minutes or more just to access the circuit.

Welcome to J2ski :D

I've not skied the Dolomites, but I know someone who has, he stayed in Arabba and had a great time. He's very much into backyard skiing, and does not really ski pistes by choice. Here is a trip report from Snowheads of their groups experiences.

Lots of pics...

Was going to go back to Arabba but wanted to try somewhere different on the Sella Ronda so its Selva for us. I will go back to Arabba at some point.

Didnt you like Arabba or just looking to try a different place?
I really like the look of it as a base on the Sella Ronda.

Between Arabba and Selva, which offers more opportunities without getting on the "boulevard" of the Sella circuit? Which of these 2 has more fun off the groomed trails? Examples? Thanks!
