Hi,
To give a little background, I've been boarding twice...Bulgaria for the basics and Val d'Isere for the real thing - Loving it!
I'm organising a skiing/boarding trip for the week between xmas and New years and the 6 or so members of my group all live in London, England. I know it is an expensive time of the year to go but there's no option. I'm looking for something with guaranteed snow suitable for near-beginners to good intermediates. From reading your forums, Andorra probably won't cut it for consistency and the only advice I've received from friends is regarding France.
Do you have any suggestions of anywhere else in the region around Geneva or possibly Italy that has resorts close to the runs, ie no need for buses and of moderately good value, ie around £500 (€550) for the 7 days?
Also, if anyone has any recommendations for tour operators, it would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance,

Strangely enough using the search criteria of what you want from a ski area mine comes up as Kitz or Seefeld. Until I got into Finland,(which it does not list at all) Seefeld is a place I have been to many times, must have chosen just right.
Link and search tool look pretty good. Best one I've seen and seems to generate some sensible results.

Hello and welcome to our little world.
Have a look at the attached link http://www.wtss.co.uk it should open the home page of Where to Ski & Snowboard which is every skiers bible (as well as this website of course), you can build your own shortlist by ticking what you want (ie, snow reliability, convenience, cost etc) and then add a country if you have one in mind. This will bring up a shortlist which you can pick and chose from.
Or you can wait for one of many of the forum members to give you lots of random advice, go off at a tangent and talk about something completely different and tell you nothing then argue about whats good and whats not.
On a serious note, you will get somewhere eventually. They're a good bunch really x

Arabba or Selva on the Sella Ronda in Italy is a good shout.
Mayrhofen and the Tux Valley scores highly, and I can recommend from personal experience.
Flaine is close to Geneva and always gets good reviews.
And Val Thorens scores high marks, and is another place I have been to and can recommend.

Thanks for the link Nelly.
I just tried it ranked in order for - snow reliability, convenience, and intermediate in France.
Out of 46 resorts it came up with Val Thorens as number one, which is very funny because we've been there twice now, and really liked it.
Second was Tignes, and we're going there now in October.
Eighth was Courchevel and we're going there in Feb.
I think the problem is one doesn't really know what order to put things in until after one has been ski-ing a few times and experienced trying to ski in slush, or walking miles in ski boots etc. etc.
