We got a round of 8 vodka/red bulls to perk us up late evening in a village bar - nearly passed out when the barmaid handed me the tab for 116 euros

You didn't seriously pay that did you?
I'd have walked out after the 12 euro pint

We'd quaffed most of it by the time we had got the tab. We should have have done a bit more 'resort research' really. The principal reason for choosing Megeve was it was an hour from Geneva (it was a long weekend). The Hermes shop in the village square should have set a rabbit off! Skiing was good mind.

That is totally disgraceful ....... I remember someone on here stating that Megeve was not expensive

Can I jump in on Courchevel? The restaurant/bar on the verdons run, called the chalet des pierres. Beer was 14 euros a pint before tax. We'd ordered so had to drink it. We had a look a look at the a la carte menu just to be nosey......3 luxury sausages and potatoes aereated into pillows with a jus (known to us as bangers and mash with gravy).....131 euros each. I kid you not. Who on Earth buys this stuff? Ah, here come the Russians.......
