Best ski resort for non- skiers

Welcome to J2ski :D Most winter resorts have cleared walking paths and snowshoe trails around the resorts. Did you have a destination country in mind?
many :D someone else was asking a similar question as well. I think it's more common than people imagine that someone wants to go on a winter holiday and not ski.
There's certainly places where skiing is just one of the activities on offer. How seriously does she want to walk? Strolls for an hour or so or something a bit bigger, half or full day treks?
You can look on http://www.sentiers-raquettes.com/default.asp to get an idea who has a lot of trails for snow shoes, for longer stuff you need to find an accompagnateur who get more into the back country.
I'm a keen snow shoer myself and I've some blog stuff : http://snowslider.net/tag/snow-shoeing/
Have you ever read the story of little red riding hood

The 3 Valleys Used to offer a pedestrial pass. With the numbers of gondolas she can get between Meribel and Courchevel easily, and also meet you up the mountain for lunches (or with your packed lunch!). There's also walking above Meribel Altiport.

Really the big French ski stations are not so good for the active non-skier, their main business is alpine skiers and they're not geared up for other people so they have the odd walking trails but it's on a very small scale. That's not to say all French stations have that problem, I've recently been in Le Grand Bornard and that's very good for active non-skiers and there's a a number of really good other places just not 3V, PDS or pretty much anywhere in the Tarentaise. Austria and Switzerland are different, possibilities for active non-skiers are huge as a rule and in places the tables are turned and downhill skiers are in a minority or there's no downhill at all.

I have just come back from Finland and there was so much non ski activities to do it was hard to fit in the skiing. Seefeld/Austria has 142kms of cleared walking and hiking trails through woods, forests and mountains all not far from the slopes. So you could easily combine the two. Plus as Seefeld has a funicular train your OH could still get to the top of mountain with you, you ski down, she takes the funicular back.
