A week that brought unusually good skiing conditions to the UK, also saw significant falls across The Alps. Snow coverage continues to be excellent almost everywhere.
Weather and Snow Next Week
Further significant snowfall is expected over this coming weekend, with the heaviest falls likely to be in the North of the Alpine region. Snow showers and heavier falls will occur throughout the weekend into Monday. A day or two of more settled conditions will be followed by further bands of snow around mid-week. Apart from a brief moderation on Tuesday or Wednesday, temperatures will remain below average for most of the week.
Note for Drivers
Heavy snow is likely at times from Friday afternoon and through Saturday, throughout the French and Swiss Alps. From the current forecast the heaviest falls may well be on Saturday morning, coinciding with a drop in temperature likely to bring snow down to the valley floor on many approaches to the resorts. Chains may be needed on many roads.
Travel disruption and delays should be expected, so plan accordingly.
So, more snow then.

This snow forecast seems to keep being pushed back  Always tomorrow is the forecast this week.
A lot of new snow coinciding with the main holiday period could be bad news in terms of safety though, we're already well up on fatalities compared to last year.
