Hi,

======
UPDATE: Have found a place in Sevenoaks that supplies them. snowchains.co.uk. Not cheap, but gets us out of a pickle.
======

Have just tried to put my snow chains on and realised that they don't fit any more. They must have shrunk or something. No, seriously we had the same model of car (Chrsler Grand Voyager) last year, but we hadn't realised the newer one has got much bigger tyres. They are 215/65 R16 so basically 4x4 tyres now.

We're driving down tomorrow, so have left this a little late. We're going to St. Gervais le Bains, near Mt. Blanc.

Do you think we have a good chance of being able to pick up a set from a hypermarket or even just a motorway service station?

Looking at the forecasts I think we're gonna need them.

Very stupid not to check them earlier, but I just assumed they would fit OK. D'Oh!

Steve

Hi - just got back from there last week - absolutely loved it. Sorry, can't help with snow chains as we got a transfer from the airport. The roads around St. Gervais were generally clear, although as I went to the bakery early in the morning there were a couple of occasions that a few vehicles were using them - but lots weren't. The forecast looks a bit more snowy than when we were there.

Have you been there before? If not I've just uploaded my photos to:

Have a great time & drive carefully.
The plan is.... there's no plan!

Hi,

I know I have a pair of chains which are for R13 wheels ,unfortunately my new car has r14 wheels with different size this time 175/70's.So my old ones are no good :(.

If you can get to a largish auto parts shop or dealers they should be able to help ,if not Halfords do snow chains for around £50 a set (although they will only be the budget type) ,over the channel many service stations should have some, and you will most certainly be able to obtain a pair from a SuperU hypermarket.(these will range in price from around 40euros up to 200euros or so).

You should not have any trouble finding some.

All the best and a safe .enjoyable journey and holiday.

Jon.
