Hello all,
Is it possible to book midweek short ski breaks? I don't have enough money for a whole week's trip but I have a week off next week. All I seem to be able to find are weekend trips which aren't really preferable for me. Ideally I'm looking at going on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday and probably for 3 days of skiing.
Anyone have any advice?
Should I be aiming for more of a DIY approach? But then obvious difficulties with midweek transfer and hotels reluctant to take midweek bookings.
Any help, advice or experience greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Robin

It is with a bit of searching , but I uaually find that the cost is as much as a week, if not more (the only saving being on any ski pass or equipment hire as you obviosuly have this for a shorter time).
Have been looking at a company called Montain sun, not tried them but they appear to be offering short felxible ski breaks and also offer transfers from Genava so all you have to sort is your flight. (www mountainsunltd.com)
As I say I havn't tried them, if you do be sure to leave some feedback on here.

DIY.
Fly to a big airport connected to the rail (Munich or Basel are a good start, and available on low cost airlines) take a train and book the accomodation yourself.
If you need help with trains let me know.

Thanks for your replies. I'll check out the website.
I might call some TOs or hotels direct really last minute and try to barter!

DIY is the way to go.
Look for cheap flights on odd days - Sat to Sat will be expensive but it is often possible to get Tuesday flights for practically nothing.
Check out airports close to resorts with good transport links (e.g. trains direct from airport - Munich and Zurich are pretty good) or else consider car hire to deal with transfers.
Remember, for short breaks, smaller resorts will do.
Local tourist office should be able to fix you up with cheap B&B accommodation.
Bes of luck.

If you have got a week off, take a week away as it will cost less than a short break.
Check out some of the deals on the late deal sections of the main toup op websites, and also skideals, bookableskiholidays and directski
You should be able to get a week away for around £200-£250 as a late deal.
Much cheaper than DIY

If it is price that floats your boat then a late deal is the way to go, if your looking for perhaps a bit of quality then invest in a DIY, the choice is yours

Robin did hint that money was the key issue, so I hope he finds something suitable as a late deal.
