I have it a higher authority, that big dumps of snow will arrive over Austria during the week preceeding 16th January, and cease on the morning of the 17th.

Atleast it's dry and cold. Over yonder in the states its rain, ice, rain, snow etc.. etc..

My latest beef being a 6 degree night with rain that fell VERY fast to about -8. It froze the resort. When I went to work the next day I seriously considered taking out my ice skates and skating to the lodge. Once I was given my assignment for the day walking down the slope was, at best VERY Glacier-esque. I teased one my my coworkers and told him. If you've ever wondered what walking on a glacier is like, walk down the concrete hard slope.

It's supposed to be -14 with a low of -24 with 50-60 mph winds this weekend while I'm at work. This weather pattern is nuts, globally
Uh oh, I think I broke'd the lift

Looking at the GFS Ensemble 14-Day Forecast for Geneva. Looks like a lot of squiggly lines from 14th onwards hope this is still the case. Has anyone got an update, heading to Meribel for a week starting the 18th. Come on the snow gods do your stuff.

Been keeping an eye on a weather outlook thread (elsewhere) and the GFS does not look good for the next couple weeks  I have no faith in weather prediction, however.

could you have a word and get it to snow overnight on the 18th but stop in time for innsbruck to be cleared on the 19th? :D

I'm really sorry Caron, but as you know, the 18th is an important annual event for me. If it snowed, I would have to go to bed early, and that would be a conflict.

On a brighter note, I am assured that the heavy dumps are above 828 metres only, leaving most of the route from Auhof to Innsbruck, clear of all snow and traffic!

We (all of us, and the weather forecast models) are all just waiting for the current High Pressure system to get bored and clear off.

Maybe if all the J2Skiers in the mountains could synchronize watches and, at an allotted time, all yell "sod off" that would generate enough hot air... 8)
