The Bella Vouarda is a pass between the Forcletta and the Pointes de Nava which form a ridge running down to the Hotel Weisshorn, I’ve also been over here in the spring as an extended version of the classic traverse from Saint-Luc to Zinal. As a snow shoe route this was pretty long, over 17km and nearly 1000m of ascent and probably not the easy stroll people generally associate with snow shoeing. It was nearly dark as we returned to Saint-Luc and another few minutes and we'd have been using head torches. Still, a great day out in the high mountains and an escape from the holiday crowds on the slopes.

Some more on my blog of course : http://snowslider.net/2008/12/30/bella-vouarda-saint-luc/

You're right, it was a big day out  Not even time for the excellent food at the Hotel Weisshorn.
I'm surprised that you chose to do this when the days are so short.

I'm not surprised that you wanted to escape from the crowds, the Immoblog has a short entry for Grimentz for Sunday, entitled...."Full".

Looks very peaceful ise.

So, did the Securitas people from St Luc follow you up, and insist on "controle" for your lift tickets :D
